Abstract

For this project, we have isolated RNA from single adipocytes and single adipocyte nuclei and prepared cDNA libraries using Smart-seq2 method. Single-cell and bulk RNA sequencing allow us to investigate human adipocyte transcriptomics. In this study we aim to: 1. Understand whether white adipose tissue heterogeneity associates with differences in the developmental origin of these cells. 2. Determine whether dissecting adipocyte heterogeneity and potential origin differences, at a single cell level, will yield new classifications of adipocytes and their specific roles in in health and disease
