Abstract

Fiber reinforced composite materials are interesting in military application for their low thermal and magnetic signatures. While their general structural properties have been extensively studied, the blast and high-velocity impact responses of those materials are not as well known. The projects aims at increasing the understanding of the behavior of composite materials under such loads. Numerical simulations are particularly interesting in that case because of the cost of blast and high-velocity impact experiments. This proposition is a continuation of a precedent project, where preliminary results showed the need for in depth experimental testing to be able to continue the numerical modeling confidently. With all experiments now done, the numerical modeling can be resumed. Damage propagation, in the form of cohesive modelling will be in particular interest in the upcoming simulations.
