I am a PhD student of Henrik Nilsson.
Hymenogastraceae, one of the families of mushroom-forming fungi (Agaricomycetes), is in need of taxonomic revision as both the number of genera and relationships between them are unclear. The family includes both cap and stipe forming mushrooms and truffle mushrooms, as well as some saprotrophs and some ectomycorrhizal genera. Because of this diversity, the family is interesting for evolutionary studies about the evolution of lifeforms and lifestyles within this order of fungi. A clear taxonomy of genera and their relationships will form a foundation for further evolutionary studies. I have whole genome sequence data for three species within the family, and dozens of publicly available but un-assembled genomes as well. My goal is to assemble roughly 25 genomes, extract their BUSCO genes and infer a bayesian phylogenetic tree using those genes.
