Migration has evolved across diverse animal taxa, and understanding its mechanisms can reveal how species adapt to changing environments. The swallowtail moth *Urania fulgens* undertakes remarkable migrations across Central and South America, while both migratory and non-migratory individuals have been documented. Despite longstanding interest in this phenomenon, its migratory routes and the genetic basis of this variation remain largely unexplored. In this project, I use genomic approaches to investigate patterns of genetic connectivity and the genetic basis of migration in *U. fulgens*. Over the last year, I have generated a chromosome-level genome assembly for the species, which will provide the reference for analyzing a comprehensive whole-genome sequencing dataset comprising both historical and modern samples.
