Wild relatives of cultivated crops (crop wild relatives, CWR) harbour genetic diversity that could prove essential for developing new crop varieties adapted to a changing climate. In this project, we will analyse DNA from Nordic populations of lingonberry, a wild species of conservation and commercial interest, using a genotyping-by-sequencing approach. We will determine the within- and among-population genetic diversity of the sampled populations and characterise how this diversity is distributed across the genome and across their geographic range. The aim is to identify populations of particularly high value for in situ and ex situ conservation, providing a genetic basis for prioritising future conservation efforts.
