In my group, we work on high-throughput discovery of toxin-antitoxin systems and antiphage defence systems in microbial genomes. Our work in this area is high impact, being published in PNAS and MolCell, and we are supported by a generous KAW project grant. We do high-throughput searches within bacterial and phage genomes and identify potential novel systems. We use genomic context analyses with our own tools, followed by functional annotation based on sequence and structure analyses.
