Project 1 aims to perform comprehensive genome annotation for 16 high-quality Bird-of-paradise genomes, followed by the construction of a gene pangenome and a graph-based super-pangenome, as well as structural variant detection. The objective is to investigate the evolutionary impact of structural variation in a biological system strongly shaped by sexual selection.
Project 2 aims to generate a complete genome annotation for the Argyranthemum brussonetii reference genome and to construct a pangenome using 50 resequencing samples (~30× coverage each) for gene presence/absence variation (PAV) identification. The objective is to investigate how changes in gene content contribute to ecological isolation and species divergence.
