Abstract

Using existing geographically coded data on living conditions and high-resolution satellite-based data on deforestation, we can study the relationship between deforestation and changes in living conditions in low- and middle-income countries from the year 2000 to the present day. We seek answers to the following overarching research questions. Under what conditions are deforestation linked to: ● deterioration of living conditions in the local population? ● an improvement in living conditions in the local population? One of the data sources we plan to use is satellite-based data on living conditions through the model developed by AI and Global Development Lab (Global lab AI) at Chalmers.
