This project aims to examine the conditions for safe tapering among patients on opioid maintenance treatment in remission and to develop an intervention to support those attempting to discontinue treatment. Three key areas will be addressed: (1) patient outcomes following discontinuation attempts, (2) patient and staff perspectives on discontinuation, and (3) the development and testing of an intervention for safe tapering.
This project involves qualitative, semi-structured interviews with patients who have attempted discontinuation and staff supporting them. This combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches enables a comprehensive analysis of the discontinuation process and its challenges.
The proposal of Bianca is for transcribing the interviews with patients and staff, which contain sensitive personal data, in the MP3 sound format to text by the use of Whisper.
