Abstract

This project examines food safety communication, risk perception, and domestic food handling behaviours among older adults (≥65 years) in Sweden. This study consists of qualitative interviews exploring routines, knowledge sources, and perceived risks related to cold storage, cross contamination, and other aspects of safe food handling. The project applies the Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) to identify cognitive and behavioural factors influencing food safety practices. The project has ethical approval from the Swedish Ethical Review Authority (2025 06025 01). Whisper will be used solely for transcribing interviews. The about 15 participants are independently living older adults actively involved in domestic food preparation. Interview data will be pseudonymised after transcription and securely stored in accordance with GDPR.
