The aim of the project is to study a minimal but still realistic
model of the interaction between localized electrons and
dispersive electrons in a material. Our previous work (SNIC 2022/22-108) focused on a generic model system with localised d-orbitals and dispersive p-orbitals, while this project will make it even more realistic with a model of Praseodymium with localised 4f-orbitals and dispersive 5d-orbitals.
The goal is to understand the decoherence of the quantum mechanical
many-body state of localised electrons caused by the
scattering of the dispersive electrons. The energies of the dispersive states will therefore be treated as parameters to scan for models will large decoherence. This project will be part of a
physics project work (kandidatarbete i fysik).
