This digital humanities research project consists of several parts regarding face recognition, age estimation and emotional recognition.
This project is a continuation of the EB-CRIME research project I have been working on, but also the start of a MIRAI collaboration with researchers in Japan, where we aim at understanding the emotions of Dementia patients.
Since we are collecting both images and videos for age estimation and facial emotion recognition we need to do a lot of computing using GPU's since learning is important for all parts of this process.
Why this is important to my research:
1. The previous studies came quite far, when it comes to both bias in face recognition as well as age estimation, and I hope to be able to publish parts of it after more analysis. I'm currently gathering more data for both of these cases, with the aim to make a publication.
2. A master thesis student will make a pilot study on emotion recognition and I will continue the research if we can obtain good results and we hope to make a publication together with our Japanese colleagues.
