I am PhD Student in Umeå University. My main supervisor is Weizhuo Lu, professor at Umeå University.
As part of my recent PhD research on occupants/public engagement in ongoing energy transition, I have been developing a urban visualization platform for consumers to understand their building’s performance and the energy, economic, and environmental impacts of various retrofit measures and behavioural changes at their tailored cluster level. The platform is currently hosting it in local server, but I would like to make it accessible by creating a cloud link to share with the potential users.
Occupants/public play a crucial role in this urban energy transition. Policies such as the capacity-based electricity tariff, upcoming regulation in 2027 aims to improve electricity grid stability by incentivizing consumers/users to distribute their energy usage more evenly throughout the day and reduce peak demand. Such initiatives emphasize the importance of public engagement in this energy transition. However, engagement would require accessible knowledge, such as understanding their building’s energy performance, retrofit measures to prioritize at their subjective cluster level, and potential impacts of behavioural changes. Visual, interactive and informative platforms have been shown to enhance public awareness and participation in the urban energy transition.
