I will perform whole-genome sequencing on two Swedish bumblebees species, Bombus pascuorum and Bombus terrestris. Samples originate from the late 1800s to today to gain insight in the effects of anthropogenic activity during the past 150 years on population dynamics. With this fine-scale temporal resolution, I will investigate how certain relevant agricultural transitions, such as the heavy industrialization between 1930 and 1950 or the increased use of agrochemicals between 1950 and 1980, have affected the Swedish B. pascuorum and B. terrestris population structure, gene flow patterns and levels of diversity through time. I am particular interested in investigating genomic adaptation to the use of pesticides.
