Control of wave energy motion is the key to increasing the power production of wave energy converters (WECs). In this project we will perform model-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop simulations of a state-of-the-art non-linear model-based force control (MPC) for a heaving point-absorber (Ocean Harvestings Infinity buoy). The hydrodynamic part will here be OpenFOAM based CFD simulations which will give validation and training data to a reduced order model that will be used in a real-time hybrid test rig of a 1:3 scale power take-off system. The main novelty in the CFD simulations are that (i) we develop and validate to include flexible bodies within OpenFOAM's sixDoFRigidBodyMotion solver; and (ii) we develop, link and validate a MPC based controller within the OpenFOAM framework
