Abstract

This project aims to simulate the complex, highly non-linear dynamic response of a roller-soil interaction system during vibration compaction using multi-body dynamics (MBD) and finite element method (FEM). MBD-FEM modeling will be performed using ABAQUS, supplemented by in-house Python and MATLAB scripts. Additionally, Paraview will be used for post-processing. HPC resources at NAISS are essential for conducting efficient and detailed simulations, thereby enhancing the understanding of soil compaction mechanisms and contributing to the development of improved compaction quality control.
