The plant genus Uapaca comprises currently 25 species of which 8 are found in Madagascar, while the rest occurs across mainland Africa. Evolutionary relationships within the clade have not been investigated yet. For this project I will use genomic data extracted from all 25 species to create a time-dated phylogeny for the clade. In addition to nuclear genes, chloroplast genes will also be used in tree-building to highlight potential hybridization between species.
