The project focuses on the interconnections between the home as a material and affective place and the current financial regime, specifically that of mortgage and credit-enabled consumption. Home holds a complex set of meanings, weaving together the materiality of a house with imaginaries of a good life and everyday domestic practices. At the same time, underpinning the home is a wide web of financial networks that enable certain dwelling types while dismantling others. Mortgage debt materializes not just housing but homes with a rich set of cultural and personal meanings and memories.
