The project aims to assess the impact of chemical mixtures and other environmental variables (such as temperature, salinity and nutrients) on microbial biodiversity as well as structural and functional composition. The resources will be used to analyze 16S rRNA metabarcoding raw data (and possibly metagenome data) obtained from environmental DNA samples during a research cruise along the Swedish West and East coast. The project will: i) evaluate how microbial alpha- and beta-diversity changes along the Swedish coast as well as in dependency of land-use types, ii) identify the environmental parameters that explain alterations in community structure, and iii) qualitatively and quantitatively assess the consequences of antimicrobial stress on microbial community function.
