The overall purpose of the project is to improve cattle health through increased understanding of the microbial community in cattle and ticks, by investigation of the microbial composition (microbiota) of ticks and how this affects transmission and disease development in cattle in Uganda. The funding for the project ended but we still really want to publish this last manuscript. In order to do so we need more bioinformatics work. I (Maja) have been on parental leave 2023-2024 and Juliette Hayer who is supporting a lot with bioinformatics moved to France and got a position there as a researcher, but for the 1st year she was not allowed to work on viruses (only bacteria), thus, not much has been going on in this project during 2024-2025 but now I'm back and from September Juliette are allowed to work on viruses again. We will be supervising a PhD student from Brazil who will help us finalize the analysis during autumn. I hope this explains why we have not done much lately and justified why we need more time.
