Abstract

Population genomics in practice is a SciLifeLab/NBIS course which will be held the second time autumn 2025. It is an introduction to the field of population genomics, primarily entailing the bioinformatic analysis of DNA sequence data from multiple individuals and populations. The course consists of lectures and accompanying hands-on computer practicals, where students will run bioinformatics programs to analyze DNA sequence data. Topics covered will include: - read mapping, variant calling, and variant filtering - genome diversity summaries and calculations - simulation - population structure - demographic modelling - selection scans This course round is 2025-09-15 to 2025-09-19 at which point in time we would need to secure access to one (possibly two) dardel 256 virtual core nodes.
