The life situation of adolescents with unilateral hearing loss: a qualitative study
Hearing with both ears is important in most contexts. We need two ears to distinguish what is being said when there is other ambient noise, and we need two ears for sound localization.
The purpose of this study is to increase knowledge about how young people with unilateral hearing loss experience their everyday life. What challenges do they experience based on their hearing situation. How do they view the support they received from parents, friends and school?
We have conducted six digital individual interviews with young people aged 16-30 years. The interviews will be transcribed with Whisper and analyzed according to the principles of content analysis (Elo & Kyngäs, 2008).
