TRAP project addresses the escalating challenge of coastal litter and beach wrack, which threaten biodiversity and ecosystem services along Sweden’s coastlines. This 3/4-year research initiative, led by Hoi Shing Lo at Stockholm University’s Department of Environmental Science (ACES), aims to develop innovative, scalable solutions by integrating drone-based monitoring with phytoremediation techniques. Orthomosaic images taken from drones will be processed to identify and quantify litter and wrack at key pollution sites, supported by high-performance computing on the Tetralith supercomputer for image processing and geospatial analysis.
