Abstract

The doctoral project Paths to reading: exploring young people's participation in digital reading communities concerns the relationship between young people's reading and digital reading communities. By using participatory research methods together with young people aged 15–19, the study aims to explore how young people use and understand digital reading and book culture, for example social media phenomena such as BookTok. The project's research questions concern participation, conditions and knowledge in relation to digital reading communities. What are the possibilities and limitations of participation in digital reading communities? How is involvement in the communities expressed? How does participation in the communities affect reading and information practices, such as searching for and choosing what to read?
