Abstract

The storage is intended to support projects related to ship hydrodynamics at Chalmers, M2/MT. This relates to research on vessel design, ship motions, and hull-propeller interaction, performed within our PhD and post-doc projects. The studies for the upcoming work are primarily related to two post-doc projects and one PhD project looking at * full-scale performance predictions, * hydrodynamic problems for wind-assisted merchant vessels, * CFD based optimisation for the propulsion system of hydrogen powered vessel utilising a biomimetic propeller and duct design, and * CFD studies related to the analysis of the novel Dynafin propulsion system. The work primarily relates to RANS predictions of parts of the propulsion system or the complete ship and typically involves performing systematic studies of either operating conditions or design variations. The mesh resolution requirements are in most cases high in order to capture enough flow details, especially in full scale. The exception is the optimisation studies where in turn the number of variations will be higher.
