The project is a doctoral project, financed by the EDU department (Blåsenhus). The project is about the phenomenon of care in environmental and sustainability education (ESE). When teaching and learning about climate change, environmental and social injustices, and the prospects of our world many feelings are evoked in students, teachers, and researchers. These feelings are increasingly acknowledged and sometimes understood as an expression of care. The word care is omnipresent in everyday speech about sustainability and societal issues that need to be ‘taken care of’. This shows itself as well when Environmental and Sustainability Education is referred to as education that aims at educating environmentally aware and caring citizens. In this project, we want to explore how teachers and students can actively work with care and identify the different forms it can take in higher education. The overall project started in the autumn semester 2021 and will approximately run until summer 2028. The data collection for this project will be done by autumn 2025.
