Abstract

Newts possess an extraordinary regenerative ability that is largely absent in mammals. Understanding the basis of this capability and exploring whether it could be applied to mammals is crucial. A key step in this research is predicting newt protein structures, as most proteins inferred from current genome resources lack proper annotation. In this project, we aim to use AlphaFold to predict the structures of newt proteins and analyze whether these proteins are cross-species conserved or unique to newts.
