The purpose of the project is to support genetic and genomic studies on apple, towards understanding genomic regions controlling key traits and an improve efficacy of the breeding process in the Swedish apple breeding programme.
Towards this I intend to work with whole genome re-sequencing data sets from Illumina short-read technology, as well as long-read data, to understand the genomic architecture of specific regions controlling key traits for adaptation to Swedish conditions.
I will also use MCMC-QTL-mapping for QTL-mapping in multiple pedigrees populations, for genetic studies of such traits.
