Supercritical water cooled reactor (SCWR) is one of the six Generation IV reactors recommended for further development. In SCWRs, water flows under high pressure and temperature conditions, with large variation of thermo-physical properties, e.g., density and specific heat capacity. The supercritical water poses different heat transfer phenomena compared to light water reactors. Numerical simulation using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is considered to be a useful tool to provide better understanding in the heat transfer mechanisms. The current project will involve CFD analysis of heat transfer in supercritical water flow.
