The prokaryotic energy metabolism in the Arctic Ocean is investigated. Analyses of metabarcoding and metatranscriptomic data in prokaryotes collected in 1.2 µm filtered samples from the Swedish Synoptic Arctic Ocean 2021 expedition will be performed. Specific interest is paid to expression of genes related to maintenance respiration relevant for determining the growth efficiency of prokaryotes.
