We will investigate how the shape (rectangular, circular, triangular etc.) and position of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) can be optimized using the Nvidia Sionna tool. By determining how many elements the RIS should consist of, which frequency band to utilize and where to deploy them it is possible to increase the coverage and capacity of wireless communication systems. The performance can vary depending on whether beamforming is used in horizontal or vertical directions. Also whether the users are indoors or outdoors may affect the performance in terms of signal-to-noise ratio and capacity in bps. A simulation study of how to conduct the deployment is needed to answer these research questions.
