Abstract

Fiber reinforced composite materials are interesting in military application for their low thermal and magnetic signatures. While their general structural properties have been extensively studied, the blast and high-velocity impact responses of those materials are not as well known. The projects aims at increasing the understanding of the behavior of composite materials under such loads. Numerical simulations are particularly interesting in that case because of the cost of blast and high-velocity impact experiments. In the project, an experimental study will also be conducted to validate the results from the simulation.
