Abstract

This project is aimed for the code development work of a cyclone tracking algorithm where people from Stockholm University, KTH and Linköping University were involved. Code development and testing is done by the previous PI (Jakob Beran). After the code development has been completed, the storm tracks produced have the potential add the value to the understanding of cyclone dynamics. In particular, this cyclone tracking code is made to better represent multi centre cyclones that storm tracks which are currently in use have the issue of representing. I am using the data outputs to study the storm tracks across both hemispheres, which is another advantage of the current tracking algorithm since many of the algorithms publicly available do not cover Southern Hemisphere extensively.
