Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is a keratinocyte-derived skin cancer with an increasing incidence worldwide. Somatic cell differentiation is tightly regulated at the transcriptional and epigenetic levels. Differentiation in the uppermost layer of the skin, the epidermis, involves both the repression of progenitor genes and the induction of epidermis-specific differentiation genes involved in barrier formation. We plan to re-analyse transcriptomic data from >17,000 RNA sequencing data from 32 tissue and organ types (GTEx V8 dataset) to identify tissue-specific lncRNAs.
