We carry out genetic and genomic studies in natural populations, including Atlantic herring, European sprat, Atlantic horse mackerel, European cisco, Arctic char, European eel, Darwin's finches, and ruff, as well as in domestic animals, including chicken, horse, rabbits, pigs and mouse. The aim of these projects is to advance basic knowledge regarding the relationship between genetic variation and phenotypic variation. The projects involve whole genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, ATAC sequencing, epigenetics screens as well as targeted sequencing of certain gene regions. We have generated whole genome sequencing data for thousands of individuals in these projects. The resulting amount of data, on the order of hundreds of TB, is the reason for our request for the continuation of our existing large storage project.
