Abstract

The moose is a keystone species in Swedish terrestrial ecosystems that also carries high socio-economic value. Recently a decline in the species has been noted. We have investigated genetic structure and temporal stability in the moose and found indications of high inbreeding in the Island of Öland and loss of diversity in the southern genetic cluster. To further investigate these findings we now have sequence data from several points in time to be explored in the present project
