This project will be a continuation of my previous project which I used for the projects of my 4-year PhD. For this thesis, I aim to investigate the biogeography in different New Guinean birds (Melampittidae, Melidectes, Paraidsaea) and hybridisation patterns in the latter two. The majority of samples are from natural history collections; the projects will therefore highlight the importance of these collections for the genomic study of rare and poorly known species. Whole genomes of individuals covering the species' distributions are being re-sequenced for all projects (about 130 individuals for Melidectes and Paradisaea, 31 individuals for Melampittidae). All subsequent read processing and bioinformatic analyses are based on this data.
