In line with our ongoing research project on developing deep learning neural networks (DNN) to analyze histological images of colorectal polyps, a unique opportunity is offered for a student to undertake a small, but significant research project. Our main project aims to streamline the assessment of cancer potential in these polyps by using advanced DNN and immunohistochemical techniques. The student will work on annotating images together with a pathologist and developing a DNN model to specifically identify and differentiate dysplasia in the epithelium of colorectal polyps from normal epithelium. This smaller project will support and complement our main project’s goals by focusing on a more detailed and specific analysis of histological sections. The data is not sensitive personal data as the images have been anonymized.
