Architectured materials have the potential to deliver tailored physical properties by defining the geometrical design of their basic unit cell. They have additional advantages over composite materials as they are lighter and can be recyclable. The interest of industries on these materials is growing now especially thanks to the advances in additive manufacturing. The purpose of this project is to carry out computational simulations and study numerically different behaviors of architectured materials for specific applications that can increase the sustainability of industrial products, for instance, improved mechanical strength, vibration damping, or thermal management. The project is carried out by the research group of "Architectured materials" led by Mahmoud Mousavi at Uppsala University division of Applied Mechanics.
