This project focuses on the assessment of Crop Wild Relatives (CWR) genetic diversity and conservation status of their populations across the Nordic region, the elaboration of a list of populations of particular interest for conservation, and the creation of CWR conservation guidelines. In order to address these goals the project aims to answer the following overarching questions.
• What is the genetic diversity of the studied CWR in the Nordic region?
• How is this genetic diversity distributed across the Nordic region?
• What is the genetic relationship between different populations?
• Which populations should conservation efforts prioritise?
• Are existing protected areas good enough for CWR conservation or are new protected areas needed?
