The cortex consists of distinct types of projection neurons. Their generation by a single population of radial glia cells (RGCs) proceeds in a strict temporal order, but how the transition between the sequentially generated subtypes is regulated is not known. We will use genome-wide approaches together with functional studies in cortices, to identify lineage determinants and to characterize how their regulation and activities during corticogenesis. This project is promising will reveal novel insights into how a single population of RGCs can generate clinically relevant neuronal subtypes.
