The ViEWS project started up in January 2017, originally with funding from the European Research Council's Advanced Grant scheme, now from the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond as part of the Societies at Risk project. ViEWS develops, tests, and iteratively improves a conflict early-warning system based on the statistical analysis of a large and disparate corpus of data, including conflict history, demographics, economic performance, etc. Monthly updated ViEWS forecasts have been made publicly available since June 2018 at https://viewsforecasting.org/resources/#downloads. We continue to expand the machine-learning models used in the project as well as the algorithms developed to evaluate performance of such a system. An overview of the system is available via open-access at https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0022343319823860.
