n brief about the project, we placed leaf litter in a pond in the presence of different types of plastic particles and incubated them for a few weeks. We collected some after 2 days and after 3 weeks and took disks from them and had the DNA extracted. We have sent out shotgun illumina and nanopore library for sequencing soon will receive the data. We are interested in the microbial growth on these leaves and how/if the community structure and functions changes due to the presence of plastic. We have already collected measures on decomposition and respiration and would like to link these to the microbial community.
