Abstract

For dam owners, ensuring a high level of dam safety is of top priority. However, current design methods for concrete gravity and buttress dams contain several simplifications, since it is based on 2D rigid body calculations. In this project, the impact of 3D effects is assessed when a larger section of the dam is included with several monoliths. For this investigation, FE simulations will be performed and validated using physical model tests.
