Abstract

I am seeking several terabytes of temporary storage space to help with reconstruction of large files necessary for work with whole genome sequencing data. Currently I am reconstructing BAM files from 100 whole genome sequenced birds for haplotype phasing and more space is needed for this work. We have already deleted several important files in an effort to save space, only to discover that their destruction was significantly damaging to our work. By having this wiggle room available my main project can proceed according to schedule and I will be able to focus a section of my own work in this personal storage. I am creating thousands (as opposed to hundreds of thousands or millions) of intermediate files that have very large size (often approaching 1 gb). Several thousand gigabytes of extra storage space will allow me to store these intermediate files in case we need to revisit them for analysis, or at least give me time to put them into seperate external storage. I find it highly unlikely that my file counts will surpass a million but I'm requesting some extra space just to provide room for this possibility.
