Candida parapsilosis is the second/third most frequently isolated Candia spp. in blood-stream infections. The purpose of this application is to investigate variations in the regulation of biofilm formation and persistence mechanisms on the level of fungal populations. We aim to analyze the sequence, transcripts and proteome of fungal isolates with well-defined biofilm phenotypes in order to investigate biofilm diversity on the population level.
We have already performed
• Whole genome sequence of 6 C. parapsilosis isolates from blood stream infection collected during one year in Sweden and previously characterized for biofilm formation
• Total RNA sequencing at early and late biofilm phase for these isolates
• miRNA seq at early biofilm phase
• Proteomics analysis at early biofilm stage
Now, we want to analyse these data sets to investigate variations in the regulation of biofilm formation and persistence of C. parapsilosis isolates.
