The purpose of my PhD thesis project is to examine soil microbial communities across changing land-use practices in Sweden in relation to community composition and functioning. For this I use metabarcoding and shotgun metagenome sequencing, which require extensive computational power. The results are expected to provide new insights into how historical and present-day land-use changes affect soil microbial communities and biogeochemical functioning.
