This proposal is to provide storage for the computational analysis for our computational project (SNIC 2022/22-431). For orthology comparisons, we will need to store the genomic data from 50+ vertebrate species.
We will compare the vertebrate genomic data to identify the differences in the Acomys genus. The aim is to identify unique genetic components eg. SNPs in coding regions that would indicate the differences in physiology between the Acomys genus and Mouse.
For example, Acomys are the only known rodent to have menstrual cycles and hormone-secreting adrenal glands. This analysis could provide insight into tho rodent evolution and perhaps shed comparative light on human genetics and physiology. The project is run in collaboration with prof. Kerstin Lindblad-Toh at Uppsala University.
