Abstract

The aim of the project is to develop an advanced CFD model that can predict the combustion behaviour of syngas at elevated pressure. Of key importance is to be able to predict the flammability limits (blowout and flashback) for different syngas compositions, different equivalence ratios and different Reynolds numbers. The model is based on the Flamelet Generated Manifold concept using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and an artificially thickened flame treatment of the flame front. Model validation will be based on experiments with syngas in the CECOST burner that are done in collaboration with Lund University. More details about the results in the on-going project can be found in the uploaded status report.
