The aim of this project is to study the evolution of the Darwin's finches using whole genome sequencing. We have so far carried out whole genome sequencing of more than 4000 birds from this family including all known species of Darwin's finches and two species closely related to the common ancestor of all Darwin's finches. We will continue the analysis of these birds and will generate additional NGS data that will continue our successful characterization of this iconic model for evolutionary biology.
